Marriages falling apart, divorce rate increasing, and children being unruly and disobedient, are just some of the problems we face in this world. Satan’s goal is to cause confusion and chaos in our lives but why does the devil attack families?
The devil wants to stop the preaching of the gospel
Satan wants to destroy the Church and stop the preaching of the gospel. His arrow is aimed at the heart of the Church structure. His main focus is to destroy families.
Satan is determined to tear the family structure down. He is doing his best to break the relationship between husbands and wives, and father and children. He knows that broken families, mean broken people, broken children, a broken Church, and a broken society.
We have to be wise and know the tactic of the devil. It’s time for us to rise up and start rebuilding the family foundation on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. We have strayed and turned to our own ways, but God is calling us back to our first love, back to him.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The devil wants to create disunity in the body of Christ
We are all created for a purpose and to add value to the body of Christ. Too many people have not found their purpose or have compromised their destiny and exchanged it for the will of the enemy. It is time to put on and keep on our spiritual armor and have our sword in hand, ready for battle. Satan wants to bring the true faith to an end, but he is defeated in Jesus’ name. Resist him and he will flee.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Satan’s plan is to destroy all that God has created
We all need a strong family structure which is the basis for solidarity and firm social and emotional support. The family unit will direct our path into life and help us climb the ladder into adulthood. God is the creator of all things including families but Satan’s plan is to destroy all that God created.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 KJV
God created males and females to multiply and be fruitful. Satan attacks marriages to pull down and separate that which God has joined together. He knows that if he can disrupt family life then he can succeed in pulling people away from the divine plans of God.
Satan wants to direct the family’s attention away from Christ
When there is chaos and confusion in the family then people are busy fighting battles, of adultery, insubordination, disrespect, etc., and cannot find the time to give God their complete attention. A mind that is not fixed on Christ will soon be overwhelmed and overcome by the cares of this world. And that is exactly what the devil wants.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Isaiah 26:3 KJV
But we have the power to bind him and overcome all his works. Jesus has already won the victory at calvary’s cross, so we just need to use the authority that we have in his name.
“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Stable family relationships show God’s nature
God loves families and shows his nature through the relationship that should exist between parents and children. There is a divine relationship between God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is our heavenly father; Jesus is our brother and the Holy Spirit is the comforter. God has adopted us into his family through the precious blood of Jesus that was shed at calvary’s cross for our sins. We are no longer under sin but under grace. We can call on our father for all good things and he will freely give it to us. Satan tries to bring confusion to the family structure in this way people will not see clearly to recognize the divine nature of God and his plans and purpose for families.
Satan wants to break down family discipline
Home is the first place that children will learn discipline and self-development. Strong Christian faith should also start in the home. Principles of honesty, respect, and loyalty are vital for positive growth and development. We should train up our children in the fear of God, and always teach them the values, commandments and principles laid down in the bible that we need to follow. Disciplined children, means a disciplined society, and satan is against this.
Ultimately, the breakdown of family values will also results in the destruction of moral values in the society; something which Satan is well aware of and uses to his advantage.
Family represents order and stability which Satan hates
In order to learn how to function as a church, we look at the model of stable family relationships as a starting point. Families that are rooted and grounded in Christ are strong pillars of society. Satan doesn’t want this structure to grow and expand, so he tries his best to destroy families.
Fight for your family, and do not allow the schemes of the devil to prevail against you. Fight the good fight of faith and be strong in the Lord. He will show up in your family if you pray and seek him for his help. Trust him today.
Prayer for the family
Father, I come to you in Jesus’ name. Father I commit my family into your mighty hands, please guide them and protect them from all evil wherever they go. Lord cover my family under your precious blood and be a shield for them against the evil arrows of the devil. Lord, please let there be unity and harmony in my family from today and always. Father let no plans of the enemy prevail against my family. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
