learn how to store up your treasures in Heaven

Many people believe in life after death and that they will go to heaven after they die. Not many will say “I am sure I am going to hell” and mean it in the true sense of the word. Heaven is real and so is hell. Regardless of who believes and who doesn’t. Learn how to store up your treasures in heaven.

People might find it easier to believe in heaven a place of wonders and streets paved with gold, rather than hell, a place of eternal damnation and burning fire, but they are both real. John gave us a glimpse into this glorious future that awaits us as Christians.

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.” “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Revelation 21:1-4 KJV

Heaven or Hell

Heaven is the spiritual place where Christians will live with God for all eternity. Hell is prepared for Satan and his angels and is a place of never-ending torment, weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, unquenchable fire, and brimstone. No one should aspire to go to hell, and we should not wish for our worst enemy to go there.

We know that Jesus came down from heaven.

“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”

John 3:13 KJV

Heaven is the perfect place and we are perfect in the eyes of God to enter in, because of the precious blood of Jesus that was shed for our sins on Calvary’s cross. We are accepted as his chosen and Beloved with position and inheritance of sonship.

In heaven, we will have unlimited spiritual experience beyond our expectations and imaginations.

As Christians, we know that heaven awaits us and we can look forward to a grand and glorious eternity with Jesus Christ. And just like the father we should not wish that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Live right and make heaven your home.

Hell

The devil’s place is in hell and he wants to drag your soul with him there, the place of eternal torment, but don’t let him. Hell is a place of separation from God. Don’t make hell your aspiration, or your final destination.

Death is not the end

Some might even consider that death is the end but it isn’t because the bible says:

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Hebrews 9:27 KJV

Jesus says in John 14:2-3:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

How to store up treasures in heaven:

Seek first the Kingdom

Jesus died to make us free, and we should daily walk in that freedom. Even before the foundation of the earth, God saw us in his eternal design and destiny. His plans for us are for good and not evil. Daily we should ask him to reveal his divine will and help us to have a better understanding of what he requires from us. The kingdom of God is at hand, it is now and we should seek it above everything else.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Matthew 6:33 KJV

Renew your mind

The mind is the brilliant masterpiece of God’s creation. A faculty of thoughts, imagination, will, desire, memory and so much more. To desire, the things of heaven mean a transformation of our hearts and minds. Our desires should be on eternal things above and not on perishable earthly treasures. Do not be envious of the success of others or try to get ahead by whatever means possible but keep your mind fixed on heavenly things.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Romans 12:2 KJV

Seek after eternal blessings and learn how to store up treasures in heaven

Honoring God means surrendering all areas of our lives to him and not just some. A life that is totally surrendered to Jesus, will seek first the kingdom and will store up treasures in heaven. Earthly blessings are temporary and will soon fade away but eternal blessings are forever.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:” “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21 KJV

There is a direct connection between the heart and personal treasures. We should seek after the things of God and not the things of the world such as money, power, and fame. If our focus is on earthly treasures, then our mind is centered on our own ambitions and what we can achieve in our own strength. But if our greatest desire is Jesus then we will seek to please him and use our talents and resources to pursue that which will bring glory and honor to his name.

Be in good Company

The company we keep has a lot to say about us and our character. We are changed and influenced greatly by those that we spend quality time with. If our friends are money grabbers and backstabbers, then their evil attitudes might rub off on us. If your constant companions keep telling you that there is no heaven and this life is all there is. Then you might just start living your life for here and now, rather than looking towards the glorious destiny that is yours eternally.

So keep good company, like-minded people who will encourage you in your Christian walk. Don’t waste precious time with negative and evil influencers.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.

1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV

Honor God with your life and learn to store up your treasures in heaven

Every day we are bombarded with the cares of life, problems, worries, and expectations. These can drain our strength and cause us to wander away from the will of God. We shouldn’t allow the cares of the world to take center stage in our lives but keep our focus on Jesus; then these cares will grow dim and unimportant. We should endeavor to live a life here on earth that honors God.

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Luke 12:34 KJV

Help others and give to the poor and learn to store up your treasures in heaven

As Christians, we are commissioned to help others and give to the poor. We should seek to find ways of helping the needy and less fortunate. Giving should be something that is in our nature and that which we do without hesitation. This is a good way to store up treasures in heaven because although we might not receive a reward here on earth, our heavenly Father who sees in secret will one day rewards us openly. So give from your heart, without ulterior motives.

Worship the Lord God alone

Some people bow down and worship their money and wealth. They worship their expensive car, house, and all the worldly things in their possession. Some are so caught up in their appearance, figure, and stature that it has become their major concern. So preoccupied with the things of this world that they have no time for their creator.

Cast down your idols, and do not let anything or anyone take the place of God in your life. God should be the only one that you worship and adore. After all, he deserves, all our worship, honor, and praise. He is worthy of it all.

Trust in the word of God and learn to store up your treasures in heaven

We as Christians, trust in the glorious promise of God and look forward to eternal life in heaven. Heaven is real my friend, Jesus came down from heaven to shed his blood so that those who believe in him will have everlasting life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16 KJV

We are all sinners because of Adam, but Jesus made a way to heaven by paying the price for our sins.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 KJV

Jesus did not just die; he rose again and he is seated with God in heaven. One day he will come again to judge all mankind for their deeds.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23 KJV

Trust God’s words today, repent of all sins and accept Jesus as Lord of your life. Jesus is the only way to the father and the only way to heaven.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

John 14:6 KJV

Have faith in him today.

Prayer for divine heavenly connection

Father, we yearn for your return, please let our groaning be heard in the heavens. Lord as you hear our groaning, let your voice be heard and the earth respond accordingly, and let your will be manifested here on the earth. Lord let our eyes behold your glory and our ears be open to hear what the father is saying in these times. Father, please let our will be subjected to yours, and our purpose revealed. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
