Protect yourself
Life is uncertain and we do not know what the future holds. It is therefore a wise idea to know the people that you are traveling this uncertain road of life with. “Two cannot walk unless they agree,” can you imagine being in the boxing match of your life and the people in your corner are your haters, telling you that you are a loser and have always been a loser. You will most likely lose the fight. You must learn how to keep your shield of faith up and protect yourself.
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
Amos 3:3 KJV
Evil is all around us and is trying its best to close in and devour everyone and everything in its path. But we know that evil shall not prevail, why? Because Jesus has overcome and prevailed against all the forces of evil and darkness. We have the victory, in Jesus’ name. So do not fear evil and evildoers, they will soon be destroyed. God will protect you from all evil.
“Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.”
Psalms 34:21 KJV
So, it is good to know who you have in your corner. It might be best to leave the negative people who are sapping your strength. You might worry that you will not be able to go at it alone. But sometimes it’s best to be alone and be your own positive motivator than having people who are your demotivators constantly speaking lies in your ears.
Love those who have hurt you and do not repay them evil for evil. Seek peace always. Jesus came to bring peace to all men. We are his children and should seek to live in peace with all men.
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Romans 12:18 KJV
People who do not see you nor come to your aid when you need them are not worth the hassle. The ones who only see you when you can be of some assistance to them are even worst. It might seem harsh but time is a scarce commodity and so unwise to waste it. Lose the heavyweight.
Go on this journey of life with like-minded people. Compassionate and kind, respectful, honest, and trustworthy. Those who ran and left you in your hour of need, once, twice, will most likely run a fourth and fifth time. So why keep giving them chances to do the same over and over again. Once bitten twice shy. Be cautious.
“Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”
Romans 12:17 KJV
So don’t keep hoping that they will change and suddenly become a reflection of the image you hold in your mind. People rarely change, “a leopard cannot change its spots.”
The task to mold people into the person we think they should be is nearly an impossible one, but most definitely hard and time-consuming. Don’t spend your valuable time trying to change people, of course, offer help in every way you can but spend more time working on yourself.
When we do the right thing, we see the good in people. We see God in them, and we love them, despite their flaws.
Self-image is everything, know who you are not what others say you are. Be the best that you can be, after all, there is no one else on this earth that is exactly like you. We all go through the phase where we sometimes feel unsure of our calling. We yearn to find that one true purpose and our great and glorious destiny. It is a case of feeling lost and confused, knowing that you have more to give. Just know that Jesus has a glorious plan for your life. Seek God for his plan and will for your life.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Protect yourself from unnecessary hurt. Why leave the gates, doors, and windows open up wide to pain and sorrow. Most times they will come in without an invitation, so you can just imagine the party they will have and the other guest they will invite along with them if the way to get in is clear. If someone punches you in the face, why stick around for more? As Christians, we should not throw blow for blow. Just walk away, pray and tell Jesus about it he will be your avenger.
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Romans 12:19 KJV
Guard your heart, it is precious. So, protect it. Don’t love foolishly. Don’t lose your heart to those who are undeserving of it. Do not allow others to steal your peace and joy.
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 KJV
Give your worries to God and let go of the past. Never seek revenge, but let your light shine before others. And then, let the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you, that your hearts may be filled with joy and that you may have favor with God and man.
Prayer for protection against evil
Heavenly Father, I come to you in Jesus’ name. Lord, I know you are the almighty God and awesome protector. Father, there seems to be so much evil in the world today. Father, please be my shield and protector from these forces of darkness. Lord I know you are strong and no power can stand against you. Lord, I take refuge and shelter under the shadow of your wings. Hide me Lord, where no evil can find me. Protect me Lord from the evil schemes and plots of the evildoers. Lord when I feel afraid, be my strength and comfort me on every side. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
